Getting Connected to the mental help you need

We all have our own threshold for the amount of discomfort we are willing to put up with. Each of us is different in regards to what we are willing to put ourselves through and what we will endure before we say enough is enough. There is no magic number of experiences or level of suffering that makes a person’s experience better or worse than the other. The point is, you get to determine when enough is enough. Here are 4 tips to getting connected to support on your path to healing and attaining success.

  1. Make a quick list of the symptoms you struggle with the most: Excessive worry, difficulty controlling the worry, restlessness, easily fatigued, irritable, difficulty concentrating, muscle tension or disturbances in sleep.

  2. Maybe there are areas of your life that you feel are really impacted (ie. daily activities, work, relationships) Make note of those things as well.

  3. List out any questions you would want to ask the therapist during your call to make sure you get all the information you would need to feel comfortable moving forward.

  4. Once you’ve written out these things, it’s time to search for a therapist. When we make the choice to seek out a professional or expert that handles exactly what we are having problems with, it is always helpful to know where to start. A good place to start is to type in Psychology Today and search for a therapist in your area or you can easily send me a message or give me a call.
